Second Language Evaluation
French

Second Language Evaluation is also known as the SLE. The SLE tests are conducted by the Public Service Commission of Canada (in English and French). It is used to fill bilingual imperative and bilingual non-imperative jobs within the federal government.

SLE testing is intended to evaluate a candidate’s proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in French and English.

The Second Language Evaluation (SLE) doesn't have a binary "pass" or "fail" outcome.
Candidates receive a proficiency level (A, B, C, Exemption) or an "X" if the minimum requirements for Level A are not met.
